What is an ammonite?
An ammonite is an ancient marine animal that has been extinct for over 65 million years. It’s name was derived from the Egyptian god Ammon because the fossil looks like a ram’s horn and Ammon had the horns of a ram.

What is ammolite?
Ammolite is a gemstone that is found on the outside of the shell of an ammonite. Much like a pearl, ammolite is constructed with nacre. It is a biogenic gemstone meaning it is a byproduct of a living creature or what used to be a living creature, which is a very rare case.
